Frame construction of rail flat cars
The load-bearing part of a railcar consists mainly of the frame (body) and the four travelling wheels. The frame is made of thick, solid steel plates and consists of four longitudinal beams and several crossbeams and flat plates welded together. Usually, large channels are used as the longitudinal and crossbeams of the frame. The bearings can be distributed at eight points to carry the load and the eight points are subjected to uniform forces. Four travelling The flat bearing blocks on the wheel pairs are fixed to the frame by four bolts, thus reducing the height of the flat car platform. This reduces the height of the platform and makes the railcar more suitable for transfer in narrow spaces. The wheels are made of steel and polyurethane to ensure that the wheels are insulated. The wheels are insulated to ensure that they are safe when using low voltage rail power supply.
